These past few months, I have been thinking a lot about the discipline and integrity behind good art-making: of continuing to put in hours when the inspiration is long gone, of loving and listening to the materials, of deciding that the details matter, even when no one else will notice them.
And as frustrating as any kind of art making can be – there is something so inherently good about it, something spiritual, something that makes it’s worth pursuing and celebrating.
To all of you creative makers – whatever your medium: visual art, theater, music, dance – keep making. Keep re-making. Keep loving and sharing your work and the work of others. Keep caring about what you think is beautiful, and true, and important. And use your medium to declare these things.
